What we take on
If yours is inefficient, or you just want a fresh look, this is where it starts. Our design team helps you plan the layout and walk through material selections, so the decisions get made before the demolition does.
Constant use and constant moisture wear a bathroom down, and by the time it looks tired the plumbing and electrical usually need attention too. Remodeling takes care of the structure along with the way your room looks. Custom tile showers are on the list of services, and the tile work is ours.
From there you work with one of our designers to make it come to life. Custom building begins and ends with you, and the job is to keep it a simple, enjoyable experience from your first conversation to your last coat of paint.
An addition shouldn’t be a room tacked on for square footage. The space you already have gets reconfigured so it works better, and the new part is designed to read as part of your house and your neighborhood.
How we start
There are a lot of contractors out there, and depending on what your project needs, we may or may not be the right fit. We’d rather know that up front than leave you with a result you don’t want.
So we start with a phone call. You tell us what you have in mind, we tell you honestly whether it’s work we can do well, and if it is, we get into how to bring your vision to life.

Preston’s motto, and Solid Foundation’s focus
Preston grew up in Floyd County, off the parkway in southwest Virginia, watching his father work as a carpenter. As a teenager he started at his uncle’s business, Harris Construction, working alongside both of them. In high school he competed in Skills USA at the local, state, and national levels with a specialty in carpentry.
He and his wife Amber moved to Winston-Salem in June 2008. Preston began his business in the spring of 2009 and established Solid Foundation Construction LLC in the summer of 2011. His craftsmanship goes beyond carpentry: tile work, painting, electrical work, flooring, precision trim work, and creative designing are all his.
